Training: Bhagavad Gita Course - Karma Yoga Course - Master in Bhagavad Gita

Below we show a small summary of the main protagonists of the Bhagavad Gita that can be useful to seekers and students of the Bhagavad Gita Institute when they immerse themselves in the profound wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita.

The Bhagavad Gita, the central part of the great epic of the Mahabharata, begins in a setting of war between two family clans (Yoga Arjuna’s Despondency), the Kauravas (representing the forces of evil) and the Pandavas (good), in a dialogue between Sri Krishna (the incarnation of the Lord) and Arjuna, the Pandava prince and warrior.

Kurukshetra the Field of duty (Bhagavad Gita) Sri Krishna, Arjuna

But the Bhagavad Gita is not about a material war, but rather it must be interpreted as a war inside man, in his own heart. It is the eternal internal struggle of each man with good and evil.

The main protagonists of the Bhagavad Gita are:

  1. Sri Krishna: incarnation of Vishnu, cousin and charioteer of Arjuna
  2. Arjuna: prince and archer of the Pandavas
  3. Pandu: stepfather of the Pandava brothers
  4. Draupadi: wife of the Pandava brothers: Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva
  5. Bhishma: chief of the Kaurava army
  6. Dhritirashtra: blind king of the Kauravas
  7. Duryodhana: evil firstborn of Dhritirashtra and prince Kaurava
  8. Sanjaya: Kaurava minister, recounted the cruel battle to Dhritirashtra
  9. Drona: highest advisor of Pandavas and Kauravas
  10. Bhima: weapon master of Pandavas and Kauravas
  11. Vyasa: compiler of the Bhagavad Gita and the Mahabharata

Sri Krishna (incarnation of Vishnu) and Arjuna (archer) Bhagavad Gita

For Swami Vivekananda (disciple of Sri Ramakrishna):

Vivekananda: for the preservation of Dharma and the destruction of the evil.. Bhagavad Gita

According to Gandhi:

Gandhi: Every personified life (Krishna) is an Incarnation of God

Arjuna is the prince of the Pandavas, cousin and friend of Sri Krishna; He is upright, loyal and sensitive and an exceptional warrior. He had to fight against his relatives, but he neither wanted nor could kill them. He seeks wisdom from Sri Krishna.
